The Wizard of Oz
Our production will be one to remember! with 55 actors, 20 choir members, a voluntary band of which members were Haddenham 'locals'. Every teacher was involved in some way, but we would like to say a big thank you to Year3 teacher Mrs Wade and a local resident, Sheila Sears, who made the stunning costumes.
Our children were amazing; many, many hours of rehearsals wereput in: most Tuesdays & Thursdays after school and 4 lunchtimes during the week, as well as a couple of rehearsals at the weekend. All spectators will tell you that this huge effort was well worth it!
The Wizard of Oz in the words of ‘Dorothy’
We auditioned and were cast back in September. Everyone who auditioned got some kind of part. There were 50 cast members altogether and we got on really well.
In October we started rehearsals and got our first scripts. We rehearsed at least two days a week; as it got nearer and nearer to the production we rehearsed more and more...
We worked so hard that time went quickly! Before we knew it we had to do the dress rehearsal in front of the school. I think that one was the scariest. There were seven band members and they were terrific and everyone in the choir was brilliant. There were a lot of songs to learn so a big thank you to Mr Francis who helped us learn them all.
No one really realises everything that goes on backstage – a lot of work. Everyone worked really hard to make everything come together and I think costumes need their own special mention. Miss Brooks and Miss Carvell were amazing as Directors; there wouldn’t have been a show at all without them.
It felt great to be on stage – a fantastic experience; I will never forget it.
